THE WILL OF EMILY R. LEWIS

I Emily R. Lewis being Sound in mind through feeble in body and conscious that I have by reason of my great age but a short time to live do hereby make this my last will and testament.

1st I wish my body to be laid to rest at my Fathers old burial ground now owned by M. Cox. My Soul I Commit to Safe Keeping of a Merciful God.

In the Disposition of my worldly Goods I desire

1st To my grand children Thomas Jefferson, William P., Mary, Jane and Emily Margaret children of my son John P. Lewis, Deceased, the sum of one Dollar each.

2nd To my daughter Sarah Ann Aspley the sum of one dollar to be paid by my Executrix herein after named.

3rd In Consideration of the fact that my Daughters Mary Francis Lewis & Emily Jane Lewis remained with me in my old age and have been dutiful and affectionate children and have been the prop of my declining years and also the further fact that I have heretofore given to my other children more than I now have to bestow upon the said Mary Francis and Emily Jane, do hereby will devise & give to the said Mary Francis & Emily Jane all of my property both real and personal paid that estate embraces the Homestead on which I live and known as the Old Sandy Creek place consisting of about twenty five acres of land. The personal property embrace all of my household & kitchen furniture and personal effects and all live Stock and Farming implements that I may die possessed of.

The Said Mary Francis & Emily Jane Lewis to have the aforesaid property and in fee simple and the Only charge to be thereon is for them to furnish a hoome for and to sustain their Father Thomas B. Lewis during the [word missing] his nautral life.

I hereby appoint my daughters Mary Francis & Emily Jane Lewis my Sole Executrix and request the Court do accept them as such without bond.

I, T. J. Mosley, Clerk of the Edmonson County Courts do certify that on the 3rd day of February 1890 at a regular term of the Edmonson County Court, the foregong instrument of writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Emily R. Lewis died was filed in open Court and offered for probate, whereupon the Same was duly proven by the Oaths of J. S. Mitchell one of the attesting witnesses & Emily Jane Lewis to the last will and testament of said Emily R. Lewis died and the same was approved by the Court and orderd to be entered of record and I have this day duly recorded the Same with this Certificate in my office.

Given under my hand this 6th day of february 1890.
