     Katherine Hubbard was born in 1660 in Essex County, Virginia.1 Katherine married Thomas Ballard Jr., son of Thomas Ballard Sr. and Anna (Anne) Thomas, before 9 May 1685 at York, York County, Virginia.1,2 Katherine Hubbard died in 1706 in York County, Virginia, at age 46 years.1
     
Katherine's parents were John and Katherine Hubbard and she was the granddaughter of Matthew Hubbard of Skimino, York County, Virginia. She apparently remarried a James Besouth.1

     William Ballard married Philadelphia Lee (or Ludwell) in Virginia.1 William Ballard was born circa 1687. He was the son of Thomas Ballard Jr. and Katherine Hubbard. William Ballard died circa 1754.
     
At the moment it remains a bit unclear if this William Ballard, son of Thomas Ballard, Jr., is the father of Philip and husband of Philadelphia or if it is William Ballard, son of Thomas Ballard, Sr. who is Philip's father. I tend to feel that this is the accurate line based on Cabell and "The Major," therefore this will remain the line of descent until I learn more. (KSD).2
