     Alexander de Hilton was born circa 1312. He was the son of Robert de Hilton. Alexander de Hilton married Maud de Emildon, daughter of Richard de Emildon, before 1333. Alexander de Hilton died in 1361.
     
In 1332 Alexander was summoned to be a Member of Parliament for Durham in the 6th year of the reign of Edward III.1

"Alexander Hylton, Baron and Lord of Hilton, was a great soldier, and served in the Scottish Wars under King Edward III."2

July 19, 1333 Alexander was at the Battle of Halidon Hill. He served in the Scotch wars with Ralph Lord Neville.1

In 1335 he was again summoned to be a Member of Parliament in the 9th year of the reign of Edward III. He gave lands in Broxfield to Alnwick Abbey.1

October 13, 1346 Ralph Neville commanded at the Battle of Neville's Cross, so Alexander may also have fought there, too.1
