8th great-grandfather of Kerry Suzanne Davis.
Henry Pierpont was born in 1613. See Hotten which says "Henry Perpoynt yeres 22, imbarqued in the 'Plain Joan' for Virginia, May XV, 1635." This Henry would have been born in 1613.1 He was the son of Father of Henry Pierpont. Henry Pierpont married Elizabeth Larkin circa 1637. Henry Pierpont married Ann Summerland between 1668 and 1700.
According to "Immigrants to Virginia" and Hotten, it is noted on May 15, 1635 (xv Maij 1635) regarding new arrivals in Virginia "Theis under-written names are to Virginea: imbarqued in the Plaine Joan" Richard Buckam Mr. the pties having brought Attestacon of their conformitie to the orders and discipline of the Church of England." Included in the list of passengers is "Henry Perpoynt, aged 22." It goes on to say that The Bonaventure, which sailed from England in 1634, and the Plaine Joan, which sailed in 1636, both landed their passengers in the Isle of Wight County, Virginia."
Is this Henry Perpoynt (Pierpont) the same Henry Pierpont who arrived first in Southern Virginia and the Isle of Wight in 1636 (some say 1635) and then later emigrated to Maryland in 1665. Daughter Mary, wife of Thomas Davis, has a birthdate of around 1677 or so which would make him 64 and his first wife Elizabeth Larkin rather old for children. It appears though that he had a second wife, Ann Sumerland, and perhaps she was a younger woman and had the second batch of his children once they moved to Anne Arundel County in 1665. A bit of a mystery right now.
I also note that the Henry Pierpont who sailed on the "Plaine Joan" appears to have come as a member of the Church of England, while much mention is made of the later Henry Pierpont living in Maryland being a member of The Society of Friends.
Following are notes on Henry Pierpont gathered by Rozina Fairchild Davis in the 1920s:
We have not been able to certainly trace Henry Pierpont, the father of Mary Pierpont, wife of Thomas Davis.
"Colonial Families of the United States," Vol. 3, page 48, says: "HENRY PIERPONT immigrated to Maryland in 1665, settled in Anne Arundel County and was a member of the Society of Friends. He was the author of a book on 'Truth.' His son Charles married Sidney Chew, the daughter of Wm. and Sidney (Wynne) Chew. A granddaughter Mary Pierpont m. 1762 Richard Richardson Jr."
From "Founders of Anne Arundel Co.," p. 30: "Henry Pierpont's 'Diamond' adjoined Nicholas Wyatt nine miles West of Annapolis."
Henry Pierpont is mentioned as overseer in the will of Elizabeth Brewer, dated March 6, 1667, in which she makes a bequest to Amos Pierpont. (Maryland Calendar Wills Vol. I, p. 43.)
He is also mentioned as witness in Wm. Grimes will, dated March 26, 1676, "Md. Calendar of Wills," Vol. 1 p. 183, and in the will of Wm. Mitchell, dated Feb. 6, 1684, Idem. p. Vol. 3 p. 161.
Henry Pierpont is assessed in 1676. (Md. Archives Vol. 2 p. 552.)
"Md. Calendar of Wills," Vol. 5, p. 48 states: "Will of Jabez Pierpont (Pairpont) of Henry, dated Oct. 1, 1720 proved Apr. 24, 1721.

Father of Henry Pierpont was the son of John Pierpont.
There's a gap to be filled to connect Henry Pierpont to Pierpont ancestors, so I've added in the mysterious "Father" of Henry here and some more notes from Rozina Phebe Fairchild Davis's family records:
"New Haven Hist. Soc. Coll.," Vol. VII, p. 260: "Holmes Pierrepont, the seat of the Pierrepont family, is near Scrooby England. This was the home of Brewster of the Mayflower. It was possibly the rock of Puritanism that divided the Pierpont family."
"Early Virginia Immigrants" by Geo. Caball Greer. "William Pearepont, 1643 transported by John Freeme, Charles Co., Va."

John Pierpont was born in 1616/17. He was the son of James Pierpont.
Came to America at Ipswich, Mass. in 1640.
Probably NOT the connection between Pierpont ancestors and Father of Henry Pierpont, but had to make a connection somewhere -- for the time being!
