The first, Captain James Davis, arrived in America in 1607 as Master on the "Mary & John" with the Popham group which briefly settled in Sagadahoc, Maine (aka Northern Virginia at the time). John Alden & his soon-to-be wife, Priscilla Mullins were next, arriving at Plymouth on "The Mayflower" in 1620. In 1621, William Hilton came on the second ship to Plymouth, the "Fortune," which came to resupply and help out the first, starving group of Plymouth "Pilgrims." Thomas Ballard, Sr., who was born in 1630 in Virginia or possibly England, was an important resident of the early village of Middle Plantation, later to be known as Williamsburg.
Jane Dudley proclaimed Queen of England.
Mary I dethroned Jane and assumed title of Queen of England.
Mary I crowned Queen of England at Westminster Abbey by Stephen Gardiner, Bishop of Winchester.
Elizabeth I crowned Queen of England at Westminster Abbey by Owen Oglethorpe, Bishop of Carlisle.
